Neighbor blows a blast of fresh air across the literary landscape.
Instead of exploring the heart of everyday life, as many contemporary writers do,
Lupens guides us into the minds of those on the fringe.”
(Erin Miller’s review of Neighbor in “Salamander”, v. 12, no. 1)

(Somerville, MA) McIntyre & Moore Booksellers hosts author Will Lupens, reading from his Neighbor, and publisher Polyho Press, celebrating their one year anniversary. On January 24, 7:30 pm at McIntyre & Moore Booksellers, 255 Elm St. in Davis Square, Somerville, near the Red Line. The individuals in Will LupensNeighbor collection of short stories are voices one wants to hear. Whether narrated by the child of a single parent or a UFO cult member, these voices communicate loss, fear and humor. His “Mother of God” tale in Neighbor prompted literary critic Erin Miller of “Salamander” to add in her review that “sometimes, the end result is stunning … recalls the wonderful novel A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.”

Neighbor is Lupens’ debut story collection. He is a local author, writing out of Somerville, where he lives with his wife, son and two enormous ears. He has worked as a forklift operator, software developer, lawn mower and surrogate rough-houser, among other things.

The complete review of Neighbor by Erin Miller is in the current issue of “Salamander” (v. 12, no.1). Copies will be available on the evening of the reading or online at http://media.cas.suffolk.edu/salamander/.

Polyho Press (www.polyho.com) is an independent publishing company based in Somerville. Polyho Press is proud to bring the cranks, underdogs and lost souls of Lupens’ Neighborhood to the reading public.
